The increasing consumer demand for ingredient-free options within foods, beverages, and non-foods prompted this study to characterize this expanding segment. How Clean Label Enthusiasts (CLEs) responses to health and sustainability claims for products in various meal categories by demographics and behavior were compared with non-CLEs.

Key findings related to trust of sources, ingredient triggers, geographical, and educational differences. CLE shoppers assessed ingredients in foods representing meal categories providing avoidance scores.
